A FORUM ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH: A KEY TO PHILIPPINE COMPETITIVENESS
The Catholics for Reproductive Health Tacloban Chapter, together with the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College Student Council and UP Politikons, a student organization of Political Science majors organized a forum on the Reproductive Health Program as a Key to Philippine Competitiveness on July 22, 2011. This was designed to discuss the Reproductive Health as an academic topic and human rights concern. It was also programmed to present the current national situation on population development and thus introduce the significance of a law on reproductive health and the introduction of Catholics for Reproductive Health.
The organizers invited speakers who are experts and supportive of the RH Program. The invited speakers were Hon. Sheila Tante, M.D., councilor of the municipality of Alang-alang; Mrs. Betty Garrido of Leyte Family Development Organization (LEFADO); and Director Leo Rama of the Population Commission Regional Office 8.
There were 270 participants who attended the forum. They were comprised of students, faculty, and administrators from different schools, universities and colleges in Tacloban, DepEd officials, barangay leaders and supporters of the RH program.
